Mr. Swenson & Montezuma FFA traveled out to Indianapolis last week to compete at the National FFA Convention! Montezuma FFA had three groups compete, Conduct of ChapterMeetings, AG Communications, & Farm Business Management.

Conduct of Chapter meetings team consisting of Olivia Latcham, Abby Henkle, Hayden Sutherland, Sophia Semprini, Lexi Rose, Isaiah Wilson, and Emma Snook. Alternates were Lauryn Larmore and Kelsie Mostek. This group moved on to the 2nd round, placed 11th nationally & received a gold rating. Congratulations!

Congratulations to the Agriculture Communications team consisting of Vivian Cook, Rylee Thompson, Gracie Wilson, and Leah Urfer for being named National Champions! This group worked hard to take a 50 question test & then create a feature story, video production, social media plan, and a promotional magazine.

Lastly, congratulations to the Farm & Agribusiness Management team consisting of Brady Boulton, Broox Stockman, Peyton Tindle & Claire Erselius for being named National Champions. This group put in long hours studying for a 3 hour test & a team activity. Broox Stockman & Brady Boulton also placed 3rd & 7th individually.

The kindergarten classes spent part of their Halloween celebration visiting with the Montezuma Nursing Home residents! The kids were proud to show off their costumes and meeting the residents! Thank you to the nursing home staff for the invitation!

The kids were very excited about their gift and wanted to learn more about what “bank workers” do! Thank you again to First State Bank for making the preschoolers’ day on Thursday!

Early in-person absentee voting is available now through election day on Tuesday, November 4.

Montezuma residents will vote on two (2) measures:

Questions 1: Montezuma Community School District Public Measure SP (vote on the front page) – This vote authorizes the School Board to issue General Obligation Bonds of up to $6,250,000 to fund the proposed school projects.

Question 2: Montezuma Community School District Public Measure SQ (vote on the back page) – This vote is to renew our Revenue Purpose Statement (RPS), which is separate (completely independent) from the proposed school projects. The RPS must be updated and/or renewed periodically as required by the Iowa Legislature.

“We are investing I getting the right things done for the kids. We just wan the best for them,” Superintendent Schulte states and explains the proposed project. Community Member Peggy Watts presented the signed petition papers to the board to which accepted and approved to move the bond to the November 4th election for a vote.

Preschool had a fun day visiting the fire station today learning about our EMS workers, the equipment in the ambulance, and the importance of fire safety! The field trip ended with the best part, a firetruck ride! We are very thankful for the men and women who serve in our community! 🚒🔥
