AGRICULTURE

Junior High Ag Courses

  • Ag 7 - 1 Year

    • Introduction to Agriculture courses survey a wide array of topics within the agricultural industry,
      introducing students to the agricultural field. They often focus on developing communication skills, business principles, and leadership skills.

  • Ag 8 - 1 Year

    • A continuation of topics covered in Ag 7, diving deeper into concepts within the agricultural field.

High School Ag Courses

  • Ag 1 - 1 Year - 2 credits - 9th & 10th

    • Leadership development and overview of: Agriscience industry, Career exploration, Current events in Agriculture, FFA, Incorporated science labs, and Leadership development.

  • Ag 2 – 1 year – 2 credits – 10th & 11th

    • Basic introduction to agriculture communications: Advertising and marketing, Broadcast media, Computer technology, Graphic design, and Written and oral communication.

  • Ag 3 (Farm Records, Accounting, Analysis) - 1 Sem - 1 credit- 11th & 12th

    • Analysis of financial records: Accounting, Budgeting, Cash flow, Net worth, and Record analysis.

  • Ag 3 (Farm Business Management) - 1 Sem - 1 HS credit, 3 College Credits- 11th & 12th
    • Review, management and analysis of business and profit potential:Business ethics, Business organization, Investment analysis (Business and personal), Loans and repayment capacity, and Marketing for a profit.
  • Ag 4 (Agricultural Marketing) - 1 Sem - 1 HS credit, 3 College Credits - 12th
    • Basics overview of applied economics:Business structures, corporate structure, Fiscal management, and monetary politics of U.S., Supply and demand graphs, and U.S. economy.
  • Ag 4 (Selling Skills) - 1 Sem - 1 HS credit, 3 College Credits - 12th
    • Development of successful presentations used in business and marketing: Interviewing techniques and simulations, Job research, Presentation development, Media presentation, Resume development, and speaking skills.
  • Animal Science - 1 Sem - 1 HS credit, 3 College Credits - 11th & 12th
    • This course is an overview of management and production practices primarily associated with cattle, swine, sheep and equine. Other species such as poultry, dairy and aquaculture may be addressed. Topics will include Nutrition, Reproduction, Management, Marketing, Evaluation, and Health. Industry trends and economics may be covered also.
  • Ag Tech 1 - 1 Year - 2 credits - 9th-12th
    • Gives students the training and experience to produce one-of-a-kind wood projects of their own choosing. Including: individual projects, concrete calculations, building a construction project, steps & related calculations, basic outlet and switch wiring, cutting rafters & related calculations, roofs, tables, & sheds.
  • Ag Tech 2 - 1 Year - 2 credits - 10th-12th
    • Gives students a continued training and real-life experience in the construction field. Projects include: individual projects, concrete calculations, building a construction project, steps & related calculations, basic outlet and switch wiring, cutting rafters & related calculations, roofs, tables, & sheds.
  • Ag Tech 3 - 1 Year - 2 credits - 11th & 12th
    • A more independent study of projects within the wood working/construction industries. Projects include: individual projects, concrete calculations, building a construction project, steps & related calculations, basic outlet and switch wiring, cutting rafters & related calculations, roofs, tables, & sheds.
  • Turf - 1 Sem - 1 credit - 10th-12th
    • An introductory class designed to provide students with a basic understanding of landscaping and turf management industry. The class will be taught using hands on labs and computers to design and implement potential projects.

      • Specific skills addressed:

        • Use computer software to design a landscape design for a variety of different locations.

        • Develop a budget and cost analysis for a landscape project.

        •  Implement and complete a landscape plan for the community. (outdoor lab)

        • Complete turf management techniques in a variety of settings. (outdoor lab)

        • Complete specialized applications for unique setting (athletic fields) (outdoor lab)

  • Horticulture - 1 Sem - 1 credit - 10th-12th
    • Lab based classed designed to teach students how to: Create public and private sales pitches, Incorporate plant progression, Incorporate current production techniques, Manage and care for plants and by products, and Manage a green house business.

  • Horticultural Science - 1 Sem - 1 credit - 10th-12th
    • This course is designed to help students to develop knowledge about common horticultural management practices.
  • Welding - 1 Sem - 1 credit - 10th-12th

    • Basic concepts: Arc welding, oxy acetylene welding and mig welding. Completing labs using a variety of welding techniques.
