Montezuma Community School, is seeking a highly collaborative and energetic secondary building principal (grades 6-12). The applicant must have, or be able to obtain an Iowa PK-12 Principal / PK-12 Special Education Supervisor - endorsement, #189 and Evaluator approval - endorsement #190. Preference will be given to a candidate with strong interpersonal skills and a background in the area of curriculum and instruction. It is imperative the candidate has the ability to build relationships with students, staff and parents. This candidate will also be responsible for overseeing and leading the Montezuma Virtual Learning Academy for students in grades 6-12.
Montezuma Community School is located on a 35-acre campus on the north side of town. The K-12 district is all housed in one building. The District has recently completed a number of significant upgrades including a $6.7 million renovation of the entire facility (completed in 2014) and the addition of a new gymnasium and locker rooms in 2016, a $2.7 million investment. Student enrollment for PK-12th grade is approximately 500 students. That number includes students from the Montezuma area as well as students who have open-enrolled into the district.
Montezuma Community School has a rich tradition of both academic and extra-curricular success. Recent notables include being recognized as a commendable high school on the Iowa School Performance Profile; a 2020 football semi-final appearance, consecutive girls and boys basketball state tournament appearances including the 2021 Class 1A boys state championship, the best pep band in the land, along with championship fine arts and FFA program, just to name a few.
