Hello and welcome to the art room, my name is Mr. Nolton and I am the K-12 art teacher here at Montezuma Community Schools. On this page you will find out a little about me as well as the courses I teach and other happenings that are taking place in the room. The site is a work in progress so feel free to check back anytime.

Education and Work Experience

I am a 1986 graduate of Forest City High School up in northern Iowa. After high school I attended Hawkeye Tech, which is now Hawkeye Community College, in Waterloo where I earned a commercial art degree. After a few years of working I decided to go back to school and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a K-12 endorsement to teach from Briar Cliff College in Soiux City.  Upon graduation I spent two years in Burlington Iowa where I taught K-12 art for the  Notre Dame Catholic Schools. I then started teaching in Montezuma where I have been for the last 20 years.

Family

My wife Vicki and I have been married for 21 years. We have two daughters, Danica and Kendra. Danica is currently a freshman in college and Kendra is in fourth grade.

Outside of School

My biggest joy is spending time with my family. We like to take family trips to national parks where we spend a lot of time in the great outdoors. I am an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grinnell. I like to hike, fish and work around the house. My favorite sport is football. GO HAWKS and VIKINGS!
