Junior High Spanish Course
  • 8th Grade: 8th Grade Spanish - 1 year
    • A course designed for middle school students to explore the Spanish language and Spanish-speaking cultures. Students are provided opportunities to communicate in Spanish with their peers and teacher, as well as learn various cultural aspects of 21 countries.
High School Spanish Courses
Students who complete ALL four years of Spanish have the opportunity to earn the Seal of Biliteracy during Senior Year.
  • Spanish 1 - 1 year - 2 credits - 9th-12th
    • Introduces the Spanish language and emphasizes: grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary words, and speaking.
  • Spanish 2 - 1 year - 2 credits - 10th-12th
    • Builds on Spanish 1 and emphasizes: grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary words, and speaking.
    • Prerequisite: C in Spanish 1
  • Spanish 3 - 1 year -2 credits - 11th-12th
    • Builds on Spanish 1 and 2 and emphasizes: grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary words, speaking, writing, and advanced Spanish language skills.
    • Prerequisite: C in Spanish 2
  • Spanish 4 - 1 year - 2 credits - 12th
    • Teaches a student: advanced speaking, advanced writing, and understanding the Spanish language.
    • Opportunity to earn the Seal of Biliteracy
Non-Spanish Credit Elective Courses
  • History of Spanish Speaking Countries - 1 Sem - 1 credit - 9th-12th
    • A course where students learn a brief history of each of the 20 Spanish speaking countries and what makes each country's language and culture unique.
  • Multicultural Literature - 1 Sem - 1 credit - 10th-12th
    • A course designed to develop a solid background in the complex history, literature, cultures and intellectual traditions of Spain, Latin America, and the Latinx-U.S.
