Senior Spotlight

Mya Pargeon

Mya plans to attend Iowa State University and major in agronomy and minor in animal science. She has been involved in FFA for six years. Her biggest achievements include: 3rd place at state event in Ag CSI, 2nd at state event in Ag Impact, 1st place at state in conduct of meetings, 1st place at state event in Soils and 3rd in the nation in Soils. Mya also won the Poweshiek County Fair Queen. Mya is also the Montezuma Chapter President. The older kids talking highly of FFA is what made Mya want to join FFA. Mya’s older sister was involved in FFA, and Mya was passionate about having the same opportunities as her sister. 

Adam Cheney

Adam will attend Iowa State University for Agribusiness. He wants to one day come back and expand the family farm. Adam has been a FFA member for 6 years. His biggest accomplishments include: National soils judging, and receiving state runner up in diverse Ag proficiency award. He joined FFA because of his passion for agriculture. FFA intrigued him him because it's all about informing the youth about everything agricultural. 

Tessa Geiger

Tessa plans to attend Iowa State University and double major in Ag business and accounting. She plans on getting a business job back in Montezuma or at Rain and Hail insurance. Tessa has been apart of FFA for six Years. Tessa has won state two state FFA competitions and has been a participant in the state event for the past five years. Tessa’s brother Tyler was a big influence in her joining FFA, along with Mrs. Schanbacher. 

Daniel Bryan

Daniel will attend Iowa State University and major in Ag business. Daniel has participated in FFA for six years. Daniel’s biggest accomplishments are 2nd at state event in Ag impact, 1st at state competition in conduct of meetings, won state soils at state event as a team and individually. He also won Ag sales at state level.

Jared Thies

Jared plans to go to Kirkwood for plumbing and HVAC installation. He has been an FFA member for six years. He won state soils and individually completed on the national team. Jared joined FFA because it sounded like a good and fun experience.

Jessie Moyer

Jessie will attend Iowa State to double major in animal science and health and human sciences. She has been in FFA for six years. Her biggest accomplishments are winning conduct of meetings at state, winning state soils as a team, winning ag sales as a team and individually, and getting third at national soils as a team. She joined FFA because she really enjoyed ag class and knew she wanted to be a vet when she got older.

Brett Pope

Brett will attend Kirkwood Community College for bee production management. He has been involved in FFA for six years. Brett joined FFA to show cattle.

Blake Slings

After high school, Blake plans on attending college but has not yet decide on a major. He has participated in FFA for six years and has competed at the state level in the experience the action event. Blake Joined FFA so he could meet new people and learn more about agriculture.
