Montezuma Community School District faces many ongoing facility challenges within its aging facilities that no longer fully support today’s educational and extracurricular demands. Many key areas—including restrooms, locker rooms, roofing, and electrical infrastructure—are outdated and require repair or replacement to remain operational. Classrooms lack the flexibility, technology, and updated furnishings needed to serve our students. At the same time, outdoor athletic and activity spaces are outdated, inefficient, and need strategic improvements to enhance student safety, decrease operational costs, and boost community pride. Balancing fiscal responsibility with the urgent need to preserve and modernize, the district must act now to ensure its schools remain a point of pride and performance for generations to come.

How do these projects address the challenges?
The proposed bond projects directly address Montezuma CSD’s most pressing facility challenges by targeting critical repairs, modernizations, and upgrades that enhance safety, functionality, and educational quality. Classroom renovations will improve learning environments with updated finishes, expanded electrical access, and new furnishings that support current instructional needs. Renovation of the original 1958 locker rooms and restroom updates will address aging infrastructure and bring key spaces up to modern standards. Roofing replacements will protect the integrity of the buildings and reduce long-term maintenance costs. Site improvements—including a new track, relocated softball field, upgraded baseball field, and new restrooms and concessions—will improve accessibility, safety, and usability for both students and the broader community. Collectively, these investments ensure Montezuma’s facilities remain structurally sound, instructionally effective, and aligned with the needs of today’s learners.
Why now?
Montezuma CSD has a responsibility to ensure its facilities reflect the quality of education it provides. Now is the time to modernize aging infrastructure, improve safety and accessibility, address deferred maintenance and energy efficiency, and create learning spaces that fully support today’s educational programs. This bond proposal aligns with that mission, focusing on critical upgrades that protect our investment, meet current standards, and prepare our schools for the future.
