Congratulations are in order for one of Montezuma’s musically inclined talents, Isaiah Wilson. Through the help of Mrs. Kaup, choir director and speech coach, Isaiah was put into contact with the Music Association to submit a recording for National Anthem singers. Isaiah, however, took a more creative approach; he wanted to play the guitar instead of singing it.
They submitted his recording and Thad Driskell, the Iowa High School Music Association’s President, sent the following note:
"CONGRATULATIONS!! Isaiah Wilson has been selected to perform the National Anthem for the IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament on February 18, 2026 for Session 1 which begins promptly at 4:00 PM.
We received 90 submissions for 20 spots. The recordings received were exceptional. You should indeed be proud. Thank you for your interest in and support of the Iowa High School Athletic Association State Championship events."
