The following information was provided by Mr. Gartman about the Montezuma Business team results:
Montezuma teams competed in the semifinal round of the Iowa Personal Finance Challenge. Our Montezuma HS teams finished 1-2 in the SE region, earning a cash prize, and advancing to state in April! For the semifinal round, individuals take a timed 30-question exam, and the team score is made up of the individual scores combined. At state, teams will receive a family's financial situation including monthly expenses, debt breakdowns, investment account information, insurance selections, and bank account totals, as well as a list of goals the family has that are nearly impossible to achieve in the current state. The team will act as a collective group of financial advisors, with one hour to present a presentation to the family, providing thoughtful suggestions and action steps to set up their future for success.
1st: Brady Boulton, Claire Erselius, Lily Ferry, and Broox Stockman (seniors)
2nd: Linkyn Bru, Vivian Cook, Rett Pargeon and Rylee Thompson (juniors)
JH teams competed at their own level as well, with both Montezuma teams also winning their region and finishing runner-up and each earning a cash prize. There is no state for junior high, they're all done!
1st: Carleigh Klein, Brayson Latcham, Bryn Schmidt, Lucy Semprini
2nd: Abby Bos, Alyssa Bos, Ava DeWeese, Mark Schultz
We also had a team compete in the semifinals of the Iowa Economics Challenge, and they finished first in the state (no regions) - winning some money and advancing to the state finals in April! This was also 30-question exam focused on macroeconomics, microeconomics, current events, and financial policies. At state, they'll take three more individual tests plus a team test, with the top teams out of the test rounds competing in a quiz bowl.
Brady Boulton, Linkyn Bru, Vivian Cook, Rylee Thompson

Congratulations to our Braves and Bravettes!
