Montezuma had 29 students compete at District 3 Competition at Simpson College on Wednesday, November 19th. It was an eye-opening competition for many new DECA participants who got to step in front of a judge for the first time and deliver their thoughts and solutions.

Claire Erselius - Runner-Up in Apparel and Accessories Marketing
Vivian Cook and Rylee Thompson - Runner-Up in Sports and Entertainment Marketing Team Decision-Making
Keegan Gunderson - 3rd in Principles of Marketing
Abbi Henkle - 4th in Marketing Communications
Teagan Krousie - 4th in Principles of Entrepreneurship
Emma Snook - 5th in Marketing Communications
Rett Pargeon - 5th in Principles of Entrepreneurship
Brooks Wilson - 5th in Principles of Marketing
Lexi Rose - 6th in Food Marketing
Isaac Wedgewood - 6th in Hotel and Lodging Management
Rett Pargeon, Claire Erselius, Brady Boulton, and Nicholas Damon all set new chapter records for their cluster exam proficiencies.
Different from the names mentioned above as overall finalist awardees, Linkyn Bru placed 3rd out of 18 in his Food Marketing role play. Tinsley Stowell placed 5th out of 26 in both her role play and her test, missing the finalist stage by 1 point. Luke Benson and Molly Jones tied for 4th out of 34 in their Principles of Marketing exam. Nicholas Damon and Henry Drake placed 4th out of 20 in their Entrepreneurship Team role play. Cade Lowry and Dayton Reif placed 3rd out of 23 in their Hospitality Services role play.
DECA competitors will compete next at the State Career Development Conference for the chance to advance to international competition in Atlanta. The state competition will take place February 25th-16th.
Another group of students is gearing up to compete in the fall semifinal portion of the National Personal Finance Challenge in the next three weeks, with many stemming from the same group of DECA competitors.
