On Thursday, October 23, the Iowa Department of Education released their 2026 Iowa Regional Teachers of the Year, recognizing an exceptional educator from each of the nine educational regions. Mrs. Pargeon was named the Regional Teacher of the Year for Central Rivers.

Mrs. Pargeon has been with the Montezuma Community School District for 26 years, and teaches Algebra 2 and college level math courses along with Integrated Technology, 8th Computer Science, Computer Science and AP Computer Science.

When Mrs. Pargeon was asked about those that have inspired her teaching journey, she stated, "I have been blessed to be a student at Montezuma, as well as to spend my teaching career here. I have had many teachers who have impacted my teaching career, including Mr. Dennis Wilson and Mr. Ron Willrich at Montezuma, Mr. Dwight Beyer at Lynnville-Sully, and Mrs. Judith Williams at William Penn University. All these educators have shown me how important it is to push yourself and make positive relationships with students. I have also been blessed to work with amazing teachers and staff while at Montezuma. Most importantly, my students at Montezuma have always been the best and have made it possible to teach for 26 years. I am so proud of all my "kids", and they are the reason I enjoy coming to school every day!"
