Dear Montezuma Community,
As you may have heard, Makenna Warden, one of our cherished high school students, has died as a result of the injuries she sustained earlier this summer in a tragic accident. All of us at Montezuma Community Schools are shaken by this news and extend our deepest sympathies to Makenna’s family and those closest to her.
District staff, along with the Central Rivers AEA crisis team members, will be on hand Thursday, August 11 and Friday, August 12, from noon until 3 PM for those who may need additional support. Students are encouraged to utilize crisis team member support and parents may reach out if they believe their child is struggling in ways that may require additional attention. We are here to help.
Considering how deeply this impacts our community, we are canceling our Gatorade sports kickoff that was scheduled for Thursday night.
