6-12 Principal Finalists Announced

MONTEZUMA 6-12 PRINCIPAL FINALISTS 
                                                                                               
Montezuma Community School is in the process of hiring a secondary building principal for the 2021-2022 school year and beyond. 
                       
The candidate pool included 17 applicants. Based on applicant supplied materials, reference checks, and alignment to board and district goals the following finalists have been selected to interview at Montezuma Community School on May 17, 2021. 
                       
Kelly O’Rourke - Mr. O’Rourke currently serves as a 4th grade teacher at Viola Gibson Elementary School in Cedar Rapids, IA. He noted his commitment to three specific things as an educator: maximizing individual student performance, inspiring students’ interest in technology, and instilling a sense of self-worth among all students. Mr. O’Rourke also has experience teaching in an online classroom setting and coaching at several levels. 
                       
Wade Van Vark - Mr. Van Vark currently serves as the middle school principal at Prairie City Monroe Community School District. He noted experiences related to MTSS support, leading curriculum and instruction, and creating social emotional learning standards to promote social-emotional well-being for students. Mr. Van Vark has experience working as a high school dean of students, instructional coach, and high school math teacher. 
                       
Cory Wenthe - Mr. Wenthe currently serves as the Stuart Elementary Principal for West Central Valley School District. As an administrator he notes experience in collaborating with staff with high expectations with a consistent focus on students and increasing student achievement. He previously served as an administrator in Perry, Resmen-Union, and Woodward Academy. Mr. Wenthe has experience as a high school sports official and coach at both youth and high school levels. 
                       
These applicants have been invited and confirmed formal interview on the afternoon of May 17th. Various district stakeholders will be included in the formal process to provide the superintendent and board of directors feedback about the candidates qualifications and fit for the position here at Montezuma Community School. 
                       
Following the interview process, the board of directors will convene with the superintendent to make a selection. The successful candidate will be announced to the public early next week.
