JH Miscellaneous Courses
6th Grade Elective: 6th Grade Leadership
The topics covered in this course include but are not limited to: total development of each student as a positive, impactful, and empowering young adult through the use of digital software, interactive activities and reading literature from a variety of authors.
7th Grade Elective: 7th Grade Digital Literacy
This course is intended to help students develop basic computing skills, assist in digital communications, how to protect self and data, and start to learn different computer applications.
7th Grade Elective: 7th Grade Life Skills
This course helps to address 21st Century Skills at the middle school level. Students will learn how to work productively with others to achieve common goals. Topics may include: bulling prevention, study skills, time management, coping skills, personality types, positive self-esteem, collaboration (group work/team building), and learning styles. Other activities may include: cooking, budgeting, and other relevant life skill practice.
8th Grade Elective: 8th Grade Computer Science
Computer science is a middle school elective that is required for 8th grade students. Problem-solving, creative thinking, and critical thinking skills will be used to program, code, and explore technology.
Oasis Room - 1 year
This program provides students with the opportunity to receive support they need to be successful academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally inside and outside of school.
Resource Room - 1 year
The resource room is a safe, encouraging learning environment where skills and strategies are taught and practiced in order to enhance students' abilities to achieve personal goals as well as their annual goals set forth in their IEPs.
WIN - 1 year
WIN stands for What I Need. WIN is used as intervention time depending on what each student need. This could be time for extra instruction, time for small group learning opportunities, or time to get assignments or work done for other courses.

7th Grade Elective: 7th Grade Media
For this course, students will familiarize themselves with the different elements of media.
7th Grade Elective: 7th Grade STEM
This course is intended to integrate the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields through project based learning.
HS Miscellaneous Courses
Oasis - 1 year - 1 credit - 9th-12th
This program provides students with the opportunity to receive support they need to be successful academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally inside and outside of school.
Parallel - 1 year - 3 credits/year - 10th-12th
This programs encourages students to focus on their post secondary planning and training, allowing students to determine what they would like to achieve, set measurable goals, and see the connection between school and life post-graduation.
Students in Parallel will be expected to acquire the core credits for graduation, along with the credits earned through the program.
Resource Room - 1 year - 2 credits - 9th-12th

Mentoring - 1 Sem - 1 credit - 10th-12th
This course helps students identify and evaluate personal goals, priorities, aptitudes, and interests with the goal of helping them make informed decisions about their careers.
Work Experience - 1 Sem - 1 credit - 10th-12th
Workplace Experience courses provide students with work experience in a field related to their interests. Goals are typically set cooperatively by the student, teacher, and employer (although students are not necessarily paid).
MOC - 1 Sem - 1 credit - 12th
This internships experience provides students with work experience in a field related to their interests. Goals are typically set cooperatively by the student, teacher, and employer (although students are not necessarily paid).
