Junior High Business Course

  • 8th Grade: 8th Personal Finance + Careers - 1 Sem

    • This course covers all the essential personal finance topics necessary to become a financially capable student. Topics include consumer skills, budgeting, credit, saving, investing, protecting oneself, and career components.

High School Business Courses

  • Advanced Business -1 Sem - 1 Credit - 10th-12th

    • This course is designed to build off previous introductory business skills and explore specific business topics of interest to students, preparing them for valuable workplace scenarios and situational dilemmas they may encounter in their career.

      • Prerequisite: DECA or Instructor Permission

  • Business Law - 1 Sem - 1 Credit - 11th-12th

    • The Business Law course covers all of the essential law topics necessary to become a legally informed student. Topics include the foundations of law, criminal law, civil law, and our human rights and freedoms.

  • Entrepreneurship - 1 Sem - 1 Credit - 9th-11th

    • The Entrepreneurship course is a project-based course that serves the purpose of an intro to business class through the lens of business creation. Students will spend the semester learning about all aspects of how a business is run by creating their own hypothetical business. Using creative structures and vision, students will create businesses from the beginning stages, through product selection, location selection and design, marketing, and financials.

  • Marketing - 1 Sem - 1 Credit - 9th-12th

    • The Marketing course is a project-based course focusing on real-life case studies and scenarios, examining marketing through current events and simulations. The class will be taught using a variety of lenses such as sports and entertainment, fashion, travel and tourism, and food and restaurant management.

  • Personal Finance I - 1 Sem - 1 Credit - 11th-12th

    • The Personal Finance I course covers all of the essential personal finance topics necessary to become a financially capable student. Topics include behavioral finance, checking, saving, credit, budgeting, and more.

  • Personal Finance II - 1 Sem - 1 Credit - 11th-12th

    • The Personal Finance II course covers all of the essential personal finance topics necessary to become a financially capable student. Topics include paying for college, alternatives to college, taxes, investing, insurance, career and more.

  • Principles of Business - 1 Sem - 1 Credit - 9th-12th

    • This is an introductory business course designed to develop students' problem-solving and decision-making skills through real-world business case studies and role-play scenarios. Students will explore fundamental business concepts while improving their critical thinking, communication, and analytical abilities.

  • Social Media Marketing - 1 Sem - 1 Credit - 10th-12th

    • Social media has become a crucial component of our modern digital lives, transforming the way we connect, communicate, and learn about the world. Businesses have begun using these social media platforms to interact with customers in new ways. Possessing a basic understanding of how social media marketing works can help make informed choices as a consumer, as well as plan for future careers in business and marketing.

Concurrent Education Courses

  • Introduction to Education  - 1 Sem - 1 HS credit, 3 College Credits - 9th-12th

    • Survey of the aims, organization, politics, history and leaders in European and American education.

  • Educational Psychology - 1 Sem - 1 HS credit, 3 College Credits - 9th-12th

    • Examines the theoretical and applied aspects of the learning process, theories of motivation, early-child through adolescent development, personality, assessment, psychology in the classroom, and evaluation in educational settings. Corresponding implications for effective teaching and research pertinent to teaching and learning will be discussed.

      • Prerequisite: Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology or Instructor Permission

  • Field Experience: Exploring Teaching - 1 Sem - 1 HS credit, 3 College Credits - 9th-12th

    • Observe and familiarize oneself with roles and responsibilities of classroom educators in the school environment. This 34-hour field experience course will take place in an area K-12 school under the guidance of a mentor classroom teacher. Students must complete, and successfully pass, a criminal background check prior to beginning their field experience.

      • Prerequisite: Grade of C or higher in Developmental Psychology or Introduction to Psychology or Instructor Permission

Former High School Business Courses

  • Career Management  - 1 Sem - 1 Credit - 9th-10th

    • This course focuses on building students' employability skills, including but not limited to communication, teamwork, problem solving, time management and goal setting. It also allows students to begin to do additional career exploration into potential post-secondary paths.

  • Introduction to Business - 1 Sem - 1 Credit - 9th-12th

    • This course provides foundational knowledge in the world of business, allowing students to become more aware of being a consumer, an employee and knowledge of the economy.

  • Leadership - 1 Sem - 1 Credit - 10th-12th

    • The Leadership course is an experiential dive into Leadership at both the school level and throughout life. Students will have thoughtful discussions on a variety of leadership topics, and experience leadership through film, ethical dilemmas, guest speakers, book text, and activities.

  • Web Design - 1 Sem - 1 Credit - 9th-12th

    • The Web Design course is an introductory computer science course that empowers students to create authentic artifacts and engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun.
