Fall Cheerleading

¨The Varsity Football Cheer Squad enjoyed a very successful season in the fall of 2017. During the summer we conducted a mini dance camp, had weekly practice, participated in the Freedom parade in July, held a can drive as a fund raiser, and performed for the town during the August Summer Nights on the Square. During halftime of the first home game of the season, the dance was performed by the cheerleaders for the crowd. The Rah Rah Rookies Camp for elementary students was held in September and was very successful, with around 70 participants from pre-school through sixth grade. They are always so fun to work with and watch perform at the football game. The squad conducted their annual Cancer game in October, with the profits from the t-shirt sale and crowd canvas at halftime netting over $900. Half of the amount was donated to The American Cancer Society and a Montezuma woman who is battling breast cancer received the other half. Two cheerleaders, Jolene and Amber Lechtenberg, participated in the All Iowa Honor Cheer Squad and performed during halftimes of two state playoff games in the UNI Dome in November. In December, the squad gathered one last time for a Christmas party and gift exchange and had great fun. The 2017 football season passed quickly, but it was a great one for the Cheer Squad!¨ -Head Coach, Debbie Iverson
