Ms. Van Gorp

Ms. Van Gorp

Hello, I'm Ms. Van Gorp, the new English Language Arts teacher at Montezuma High School. I have greatly enjoyed my time teaching thus far, and look forward to the rest of the school year!

I graduated from Pella Community High School in 2009. Upon graduating, I took classes at Indian Hills Community College, completing my AA in 2010. I was uncertain as to what I would like to do next with my life so I chose to travel- I moved to Denver, CO and began a year and half journey in ministry. This pursuit led me to many places including Estonia, Latvia, Norway, and Jamaica. Working in ministry revealed to me that my heart was for teaching and after this chapter of my life I decided to return to school. In 2015, I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in English Education and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). Throughout my time in college, I continued to travel and explore the world. This has become something so important to me and whenever the opportunity arises, you can find me on a new adventure to anywhere.

The classes I teach at Montezuma High School include the Adventure Narrative, Characters in American Fiction, Heroes, Monsters, Myths and Legends, The Modern Novel, Communications and Journalism.
